[CP 2.0] Iron Tager Gameplay Discussion

There is sadly no real trick to do it. Make sure to spin the whole 720 in a continuous motion and not slow down waiting to confirm that Voltic Charge is starting. If Tager puts his arms together for the Voltic Charge it's usually too late to cancel it. If you want to practice your 720 speed time, try doing a 720 off a whiffed 2B then a whiffed 5A or 2A. It's pretty much the same speed you need to cancel the Voltic Charge. The rest is the correct timing at which to press the D and the C. Practice makes perfect for this one.

    [Xrd] Potemkin Combo Thread

If you feel like doing hard mode, you can also do Slide Head (shockwave unblockable)> RC > 6K loop x 6 > Heat knuckle. I find myself doing meaty Slide Head on oki in the corner when I have 50 meter to catch people or do a simple blockstring into Slide Head, then RC'ing it and doing 6K loops, watching my opponent get sad. I'd need to test more if it's possible to do a 5HS or 2HS after that many 6K loops, as I'm not sure at that many reps. Also quick practical tip when you screw up a 6K loop and don't want to get into an unfavorable situation : if you mess up at the 2-3rd rep and the proration isn't terrible, you can actually link a 5P > c.S > Heat Knuckle after a non-hammerbreak-canceled-6K.

[CP 1.1] Iron Tager Gameplay Discussion

Do we really need a speculation thread? At this point in time, there's only one loketest completed, pretty much everything factual has been laid out earlier in a single post, and we still don't know anything pertaining to a second loketest as far as I know. If there's a second loketest already announced, I'll gladly open a thread for 2.0 Tager, but right now I don't see any use other than shoveling clouds. Of course, if there's a second loketest coming and I didn't see the news, welp, call me out on it. As for the discussion at hand : Terumi isn't broken. At all. They made him so that his godlike design of producing meter like a monster is greatly toned down by what he can do with it. His counter assault is his 6A, the move that whiffs on pretty much everyone crouching point blank (except Tager and that's it?) and whiffs on most standing that are farther than a character's length. That means his Counter Assault will whiff most of the time or get blocked if ever... He only has one meterless overhead, namely his j.2D? which can't combo easily off of it, is not safe, and whiffs on everyone by crossing them up (except Tager AGAIN) when it's tk'd point blank. Not that great. To offset that, he has a command grab that is rather slow and easy to react to, so still not extremely powerful. And as mentionned before, RC'ing stuff into dmg doesn't really exist outside of 6C. He is viable as a character, yes. Broken, no. Guard libra was a terrible mechanic, namely because characters that were of the 'rush down' type were at a direct advantage over defensive or 'turtling' or blocking ones, Hakumen and Tager for instance. Guard Primers were ok as a concept, but the primer breaking moves were not implemented with equalness to every characters, so it was meh at best. Crush Trigger is basically having only one primer at all times, but there's only one primer breaking move for everyone (or so) that costs 25 meter to do it. Everyone has the same startup ish, everyone can block it with barrier, the only real difference is how much of a reward do you get on guard break or actual hit, and how much more safe it is. I'm not that fond of guard breaks in FGs, but Crush Trigger is, I think, the better one in the Blazblue franchise right now. I'm all for having discussions about the game system and characters though. As long as we have polite, clear argumentation and that the debate is evolving, let's have fun.

I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure that if you can get the input buffer to register a 360 motion during the 2B, do 5A (still retaining the 360 motion), then 360C to finish a 720, the game would give you 360A in the first place. You'd either get a 2B > 360A, or a 2B > 5A > 360C (which would either do a 5C/6C/j.C depending on how you input your 360) I'll try it after work today to make sure.

Neutral is something you can play now. She can't really black hole Tager for free, she lost a lot of damage on everything, j.C is not overhead, regular fireball is 4 hits instead of 6, you can punish a lot of random things and blockstrings too. It's not a free matchup for us of course, but it's definitely doable. Still on the side of the harder matchups though. Saying that Tager is neutered is kinda :| for me, as I see Tager as a rather good character. Granted, I cannot do 3k on my 5A, so what? It's only since not too long ago that 5A = damage (I might be wrong, but 5A never felt like a damaging starter for as long as I can remember). Sure it was a ton of meter during CSEX but that was it. And since pretty much every 5A in the game got gimped like ours, it's not that big of a nerf overall. There's only 2 things that really bothers me for Tager (and one of them has been there since the very beginning) : 1. A real head invul anti air. 2. Something in the game mechanics that would let me out of insane airtight pressure, granted that I can Barrier IB everything in the string and that it doesn't push enough (I'm looking at you Rachel...) those are my 2 crutches that I would really like, but I can live with everything else. I really don't see why is it that it's not worth struggling with him anymore, as I still see him as a better version than 70% of the Tagers we had since CT...

I wouldn't say that Tager is garbage in 1.1 I feel like backdash is a tool that's been specialised in dealing with really particular things and not a crutch to just mash and hope for the best. Also, I'm positive in saying that only very select matchups are very lopsided against us, but even then, if the other player is not seriously on point, winning is very feasible. Playing Tager is a test of self control and endurance, testing if you can hold back from pressing buttons and be patient. Don't give up on the game waiting for your archetype to be a god, 'cuz that won't happen in the near future for sure.
  7. This is going to be my first Evo and I am very hype to finally try this thing called Vegas. I am interested in participating in the Guilty Gear side tournament and any team tournaments that would be organized. See you guys there. P.S. : Montreal is gonna wreck your shit, just sayin'
  8. omg this is getting so hype!!! we might even have the legendary names i saw back when i first started playing fighting games for real and i could see them in the flesh in my city??!! life is so good sometimes :D @St1ckBuG : can you keep up with the royal treatment sir? @shtkn : if you do come let me show you what good stuff we drink up here in the north as St1ckBuG stated on twitter you should plan double the budget on everything here in Canada. historically our money was lower than yours and we followed that, but since the recent years we're pretty much equal to you guys, but the price didn't change... shit sucks.
  9. Did you ever get to take a look again? I thirst for opinions.

  10. About Gundam. Last time we ran it, internet was completely ass and we couldn't play more than 1 on 1. Also, it sucked up all the bandwidth and the stream had serious lag issues. This is pretty much why we're so iffy about doing Gundam again with the main internet connection for multiplayer. As for VSav, we'll be using half of the venue for tournament/pools/finals and the other side for casuals/w-e people wanna run as side events. that means that if you wanna do VSav casuals, bring the equipment to play and have fun. If you really want to run a small side tourney, have fun. on another note : Restaurant stuff. we cannot guarantee everything , more so if we are too much people. it's bound to fail as most thing would be better driving there and lol not everyone drives in MTL. Interesting thing that can be taken into consideration is that if you stay on Friday/Sunday/whatever day we can go with smaller groups as it's easier to go around and eat at restaurants without waiting hours to get a table for a hundred. we'll see. I AM HYPE AS FUCK :D
  11. sorry for my poor writing on this one but what I meant is I wanna know the practical combos that are not the fatal ones because I already know them for the most part :P I was talking about if I hit with, say, a random 5a on oki what should I go for? or a 2A CH on a standing opponent? those kind of combos
  12. well i need help. how do i kanji. i dont like p4u but i wanna learn how to appreciate this game. i wanna play kanji, but i already hate his options. what do? seriously though, is there a tutorial or a guide on how to kanji? like baiting rolls, dps, AOA, practical combos (not fatals lol) and other stuff like that?
  13. >anime the dame ningen in me just exploded from the hype.
  14. do i really need to say Montreal is getting in there? ok IN THERE! too hype right now. also I'm seeing BB as the only game with a pot bonus already defined that resembles last year's is that a typo or is it real?
