Apparently, all lightning rods on the screen become bats that fly around the opponent. They explode after some time/after some specific requirement is triggered. No specific info on how to actually trigger the explosion.

Does that mean they work like Vergil's sword super in Marvel (Spiral Swords>Blistering Swords), so they will be inescapable in the sense that you will be forced to block the explosion?

read many pages of crying by the absence of Nu / Lambda and Mu-12. Take Easy, they are not crazy to remove these characters from the game! At worst they will not be available in the arcade version (1º version), but will no doubt be present in the console version.
I say Lambda/Nu-13 will be in the game and will play a big role in the story!
Mu-12 ... I do not know, maybe it still exists within noel, or saya assume the position...

They could always easily pull off what CC2 do with their Naruto games and put dead/non-existing characters even if they don't appear in the story at all. If this turns out to be true, I hope they give them some new moves and animations at least.

Considering Japan still doesn't give that much of a shit about 360, I wouldn't be surprised.
