Team Synergy

Point

Mika is strongest on point, where she can use her partner's assists to mitigate her weaknesses. Mika can put pressure on her opponent by simply dashing forward and blocking while calling an assist, and can turn a blocked assist move into a cross-combo mixup easily using her Mika Missile.

Anchor

Mika on anchor position doesn't have much to offer. Her assists are lackluster in neutral, and she has difficulty approaching many characters without an assist to back her up. Her super grab in resonance does deal damage that would make Zangief proud, but it's lacking range makes it hard to rely on for this purpose.

Recommended Partners

Because Mika is slightly lower on the tier list (generally considered upper mid tier), she greatly appreciates the benefit of the top tier support characters like Hyde, Gordeau, Waldstein, Narukami, or Es. The flexibility these characters provide allow Mika to compete at higher levels of play despite her drawbacks.

Gordeau and Waldstein in particular are strong parters, due to their large multi-hit assists.

General Tactics

Mika's range is short on most moves, but she is surprisingly quick. You can often catch players off guard by just running in and pressing a button.

One of Mika's more interesting properties is on her 236A, which will pass through the opponent. This even happens with the assist version, meaning Mika can be used to set up cross combo mixups extremely easily, both as a support character and while on point. Unfortunately, her assists aren't particularly strong, and neither are her mixups. One of her best mixups in cross-combo is to perform her command grab (214A/B), and tag before it connects, allowing you to combo off of it.

Okizeme

Because's the moves you'll most often end combos with (jC and j236A/B) don't knock down for very long, Mika doesn't get much in terms of Oki solo. Use your partner to set up mixups on wakeup.

Blockstrings

As an Under-Night character, Mika has the benefit of being able to end any of her blockstrings with a safe normal. However, unlike most of the UNIB cast, Mika does not have the reach to harass people from mid to full screen the way characters like Gordeau or Waldstein can.

Try to save your 5A for ending blockstrings, as it's your safest option and can be used for tick throws.

Tips and Tricks

  • Mika's 2A is safe against some characters, but unsafe against others. You can either memorize that, or just get in the habit of ending blockstrings with 5A instead, which is safe against everyone but has less range.
  • 2C > 5A is one of your best pokes in neutral. On hit you can continue into 2B to convert into a combo, or on block you can stagger into 2A > 5A

Fighting Mika

Although Mika is fast, she's got incredibly short reach. She'll have a tough time as long as you can keep her outside of her comfortable range. Keep an eye out for her if she tries to approach from the air with an air-dash or using her Mika Missile.
