Combo Theory
Basic Combo Structure
Noel’s main combo structure is to transition into her drive normals whenever possible and then chain two or more loops if possible.
When starting from a grounded A normal, Noel will need to spend resources to combo into her drive normals outside of specific conditions. Noel can use an assist at any position to go into her drive normals. In the corner, Noel can use 236C to go into her drive normals. To go into her drive normals from a grounded A normal, Noel will need either a counter hit with 4A/5A/5AA/5AAA or the opponent is in the air when hit by a grounded A normal. On standing Tager, Hakumen, and Blitztank, it is possible to combo into 2B without a counter hit.
Noel’s combo routes open up once she lands a hit with a drive normal. Once this happens, her combo structure breaks down into the drive normals and the A normal link. By ending her drive normals with d.5C, Noel can pick up the combo with 4A/5A/2A depending on the opponent’s height.
Basic Cross Combo Structure
Most Cross Combos with Noel on point will break down into one of the following:
- 5B > Assist loops
- j.CC > Assist loops
- 5BAAAAA > Assist loops
NOTE - j.CC and 5B can be interchanged while in Cross Combo. If both of the opponent’s characters are hit, j.CC can be used to stabilize the combo if it looks like one of the opponent’s characters is about to fall out.
If Noel is the assist character, then looping Noel 5P is generally used due to its damage and duration to give the point character time to reposition and prepare. If an Active Switch is needed, then switching with 5B, j.CC, and 236C are good options due to the untech time.
