Ending your combo with 2C > 214A~A allows you to safe jump (IAD > [j.1A] or [j.1B]) 7f moves, while j.C > 214A~A allows for safe jump on 9f moves. You can also add fireball or forward moving assist to your oki.

In corner, your best option would be using a meaty assist. Because IAD safe jumps will let opponent escape from corner via forward tech.

Yang can punish people holding up back on midscreen wakeup after 214A~A knockdown with super jump TK fireball. You can also combo off it with Burning Gold (very risky) or fast assist.

Blockstrings

General Notes: 5A, 5AA, and 5B are all jump cancellable, so all the jump cancel stuff works frm those too, which is why you can mix some of these options into each other, like 5AA 2A 5A 5B jc IAD j.A. I recommend keeping strings short because pushblock exists.

Naturally, this stuff doesn't have to start from 5A. you can start with 2A, go into 5A, then go into options, of go 2A 5B, or start from 5B. 5A is a solid button though, since it's 6f.

  1. 5A(A) 2A 5A (Stagger/Low, can be mixed in with almost everything else, can delay for stagger)
  2. 5A delay 5AA (Stagger Pressure, can also be mixed into the other stuff)
  3. 5A Throw (Tick Throw/TRM, delay at close ranges, late cancel at further ranges)
  4. 5A jc (Assist+)j.C(Overhead)
  5. 5A jc IAD (Assist) j.A (Crossup, Overhead, Sandwiches. Assist needs enough pushback/speed)
  6. 5A jc IAD(Backwards) j.236B (Safe vs most things, beats mashing+DPs)
  7. 5A jc(Neutral) j.236C(TK height) 5B (Frame traps standblockers)
  8. 5A 214A (Frame trap, gets close after pushblock, beats buttons after pushblock. Can 214A~A+assist after (confirming pushblock) to maintain pressure)
  9. 5A 214C (Unblockable except by crouchers, catches upback)
  10. 5A delay 5B (Armors through stuff, pushblock bait if they accidentally DP)
  11. 5A 2B j.C (Unsafe without assist)
  12. 5A 2B jc(Forward) j.C (Varying delay for same side/crossup/uncrossup)
  13. 5A 2B jc(Back) j.236A (Safe vs most DPs)

Tips and Tricks

Deliberately throwing out Yang (as an assist) to get hurt so her health is low enough for her Semblance to automatically activate upon swapping in to use as a 'pause' in order to get a gauge on what your opponent is doing so you can act accordingly.


Assists such as Carmine's or Jin's 6P assists can give Yang an easier way to move in on the opponent, as well as a command grab setup offering a combo or extended pressure using her 214A/B moves. Fighting Yang

If you have a fast or long reaching button with foot attribute, you can use it to poke her. It's often best to do so, as Yang's 5B will armor only attacks with body attribute. Otherwise, it's important to be careful hitting buttons within Yang's 5B range.
