Introduction

This page is a supplement for the Leverless Input Guide, serving as a guide for I-No specific execution tips on leverless input devices, often called Hitboxes. Notation of button presses is explained here.

I-No is a high execution character, and will demand a lot from the player. Due to the way +R reads inputs, leverless is often considered very hard to play her on. It is true that it is hard, however there are techniques to mitigate the struggle.

This guide is under construction. Please forward all feedback and criticism to ChemicalJade#0733 on discord.

66956 (Hoverdash > Airdash)

Important for mixups on oki, as this provides an extremely low airdash and covers a lot of ground quickly.

While hoverdashing, holding 6, input as: R, R+U, R+L, R

  1. Continue holding R from the hoverdash.
  2. Press U to input 9, first input of airdash.
  3. Release U, tap L. This will be read as 56.

Using SOCD for this technique is not required. You may also input as: (hoverdashing) R, R+U, N, R. This is player preference.

632146K/S (Chemical Love)

Easily the hardest part about playing I-No on leverless. Being able to do this move consistently on both left and right sides of the screen will be crucial to playing I-No effectively.

JI 632146K/S (Jump Install Chemical Love )

Jump installing Chemical Love off of a single button makes the technique harder. This is done by doing a TK motion, with stick users most often inputting the move as 6321476K/S. This is still a valid way of inputting it on leverless, however if you are not on lenient inputs you risk missing the 4 input, since on Hitbox-style controllers D + U = U with the SOCD cleaning. Even on Lenient inputs, I still personally find this method harder than listed below.

  1. Input Chemical Love motion (632146)
  2. Press U, then press K/S.

If you play on a Hitbox style layout where the Up button is on the thumb, it is easy to press both U then K/S with the right hand, pianoing the two together. If you play on keyboard with WASD for movement or arrow keys, you will just have to use both hands. With this method getting the jump install is barely any harder than a normal Chemical Love.

If you do the lowest possible j.632146K, you will actually be too low to airdash afterwards. For this reason, you'll want to press K as quickly as possible after inputting U, while making sure it isn't same frame. If you input U and K on the same frame, you will not be jump installed and therefore cannot airdash. Since I-No's jump startup is 3 frames, you have a 3 frame window to press K after inputting U.

These specifics on speed at which you press U then K usually only matters if you are doing JI 632146K without cancelling into it from a normal. If you are cancelling into it from a normal, you will want to press both U and K during hitstop.

TK j.214P/H (TK Note)

Important for neutral and oki. I-No's jump startup is 3 frames, so you must wait at least this time between pressing Up and P or H. This move does not have a minimum height requirement for it may be done immediately after jumping.

j.2363214S (Air Super, Fortissimo)

This move is much easier to input than it seems. The game does not require every direction, even without Lenient inputs on. Specifically, the game looks for j.26(1, 2, or 3)4S. This means you can be much sloppier than you may expect and still get the move.

Input as: L+D+R, R, L+D+R, L, S

  1. Press L, D and R.
  2. Release L and D.
  3. Add L and D again to hold L+D+R.
  4. Release D and R.
  5. Press S.

This can be thought of as a rocking, or swivel, motion. To get a TK j.2363214S, perform the motion, the press U, delay slightly, press S.

41236H JC 41236S (H Stroke JC S Stroke)

Good way to hit the opponent low after a blocked 41236H. Perform this by doing.

  1. 41236H. Guide for input.
  2. Wait for move to hit, input 41236 during hitstop.
  3. Press U, then immediately press S. This will cancel 41236H into jump, and jump into 41236S.

Similar techniques may be used to cancel 41236H into any grounded special move. It is recommended to press U either after hitstop ends, or towards the end of hitstop, as the S button must be pressed while I-No is in jump startup. If you press U during hitstop, her jump will be buffered which means the S input must be manually timed, rather than just pianoing it from the U press.

Avoiding Accidental j.236P/K/S

I-No's combos often require c.S > sjc. > j.P/j.K/j.S. When doing this, often players will get a j.236 input by accident, resulting in a dive which will drop the combo and possibly get you punished.
