Main Tools

Your main tools are going to be 5K, f.S, and 5H for dealing with grounded opponents. The long range of f.S and 5H make them great for checking the opponent when they try to cover ground and both lead to a knockdown by either mashing 5H or canceling into bridal express. 5K makes a great poke to throw out due to it's incredible disjoint and quick recovery, it also goes completely to the ground making it able to stop things like Sol's grand viper/2D, and Jam's command dash which can low profile move's like far slash and 5H. Your main tools for Opponents that take to the air are going to be j.P, j.S, and j.D. j.P's fast startup makes it a good move to try and hit the opponent out the air, j.P can also be used to option select for an air throw. j.S while slightly lacking in range makes up for it in the areas it covers. It hits above, in front, slightly behind, and below her making it a great tool for many situations. j.D is going to be a great space denial tool due to it's incredible disjoint and horizontal reach. the addition of j.D being able to be yellow roman canceled makes it a very low risk tool to throw out at most ranges.

Situational Tools

2S is a situational but great tool, it's low hurtbox makes it handy to dodge air dash attacks, it also hit's incredibly low to the floor allowing it to stop moves like grand viper and Sol 2D, though it does not get as much reward outside of counterhit as f.S. Another thing of note is that 2S can low profile some reversals like Ky vapor thrust 2D also makes for a good tool to use in dealing with low to the ground moves, it also makes for a great poke due to it being both jump and special cancelable on block making it difficult to pin her down after blocking it, but due to it's low hitbox and longer recovery.

Offense

Pressure

Elphelt's pressure diminishes in strength after using f.S in pressure. good points to focus on are her 5K, as it's +1 on block and keeps you in range for a tick throw, and her c.S as it can represent a high/low mix up in 6P/2D, special canceling into pineberry/shotgun, a instant airdash into j.S, and a frame trap with a delayed f.S. While Elphelt's options do diminish after you press f.S she isn't completely out of options. Elphelt's options after far slash are 2H, but this does have a gap that you can be thrown/blitzed/DP'ed out of and is weak to FD, pulling pineberry is also a strong option due to how strong of a tool pineberry is and is effectively unpunishable, jump canceling or IAD'ing will open up your options as you're now airborne, if you have 50 tension you can also use genoverse to easily rebuy since it naturally frametraps, catches backdash, and leaves you + on block.

Okizeme

Elphelt's okizeme is incredibly strong due to pineberry. Her best options are to either throw pineberry so it hits on the opponent's wakeup, keeping you safe from any reversals, though you lost the ability to do a proper meaty due on most of the cast, or to hit with a strong meaty option like 5K and use pineberry later in the string as a safe rebuy option. Elphelt does have some good safejumps, most notably off of Bridal Express which is her preferred ender for meterless combos, using a well timed dash jump. Outside of shotgun elphelt has a few strong options for high low options in the corner, using j.D and YRC you can get a high low mix of landing into 2/5K or landing into IAD j.S, this same can also pre done with IAD j,S into pine throw. Shotgun Oki is much simpler as you cannot do any overheads or lows, using pineberry meaty is usually the best idea since it allows you to stay stationary to charge a level 2 shot outside of the range of most reversals. If you notice that the opponent is continually blocking on wakeup you can do a command grab, though you will have to time around the wakeup throw invuln.

Fighting Elphelt

--Please note that this guide was written in 2015, and Elphelt has been significantly nerfed since--

Burst Points

214KGGXRD-R Elphelt GroundBridalExpress.pngGuardAllStartup14Recovery12Advantage-7 combo enders - Bridal Express is often used for combo extensions when Elphelt has meter, so make sure to check her bar before pressing Burst.

Corner SG.HGGXRD-R Elphelt Fire2.pngGuardAllStartup3RecoveryTotal 31Advantage-2 - Short answer: Kinda don't burst this. Long answer: Burst early or don't burst at all; after a couple of shots Elphelt is pushed back far enough that burst will whiff. However, Elphelt knows this and will likely be baiting burst at the beginning of corner combos. So, in general, don't actually burst this.
