How Damage Works

Without accounting for combo scaling, damage is calculated as follows:

Damage = (BaseDamage*1.1325) - ((BaseDamage*1.1325)*OpponentDefense*0.031)

In order to simplify this concept for casual viewers, the "damage" field shown on the overview page for a given character is the damage that results by using an attack against an opponent with average defense rating ( Zato-1 or  Axl Low).

Character Health Comparison

What do these attributes mean?

  • Health: The number of life points the character has ignoring defense
  • Defense: is a modifier of how much damage a character receives per hit
  • Luck: determines the random chance that a character will get dizzied when hit by moves exceeding their dizzy resistance. Once you go over your character's dizzy threshold, the game randomly gets a number between 0 and "64 - <your character luck>"
  • Dizzy Resistance: is the amount of stun a character can receive before they can be dizzied. Also known as Dizzy Threshold.

So far, the only place which I have found the names of Instant Kill attacks in is the Guilty Gear Complete Bible - a Japanse mook from 1998. I have done my best to localize these names into English for the wiki. Here I have included the original names as found in the mook.
